Karibal will be topbilled by Jennylyn Mercado, Jean Garcia and Wendell RamosPhilippine Entertainment Portal Saturday, August 8, 2009 01:46 PM ![](http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w195/welovejen4ever/DearFriend/dfk.jpg) The unique bond between mothers and daughters is very profound. But when a brewing dispute interferes with their relationship, can the blood that unites them save and salvage their love for each other? This August, Dear Friend's latest offering, "Karibal," presents the tale of a thorny love triangle between mother and daughter. Karibal tells the touching story of the enduring love between mother and daughter. A bond so complex and real, it certainly gives everyone an intimate look at the powerful relationship between these remarkable women. The story revolves around the brewing love triangle between Cheska (Jennylyn Mercado), her mother Claire (Jean Garcia) and Cheska's boyfriend Darrell (Wendell Ramos). Cheska falls in love with her boss Darrell. But their age differences and Cheska's immature and childish nature hamper their relationship. The two constantly engage in verbal battles. In a few chance encounters, Claire meets Darrell and sparks fly between the two. During Darrell's predicament over his love life, he finds consolation in Claire, who is more mature and understanding beyond her years. What's more, Claire is smarter and more charming compared to Cheska. Soon, Darrell discovers that Claire is Cheska's mom. And that's when things really get complicated. This revelation marks a deep estrangement between mother and daughter. Can Claire and Cheska bridge the gap that tarnished their relationship? How will Darrell resolve the conflict between the two women who play important roles in his life? As the mother and daughter relationship is tested, can this still be saved? Karibal is directed by Andoy Ranay with Denoy Navarro-Puño as the head writer. The first part of Dear Friend's "Karibal" airs this Sunday, August 9, right after S.O.P.

Jennylyn Mercado is now more centered iGMA.tv Article posted August 08, 2009
Jennylyn Mercado returns to 'Dear Friend' this Sunday, portraying a woman who she can relate to in ways that people won't expect. Text and Photos by Jason John S. Lim.
starsAng title ng bagong story na isasabuhay through Dear Friend is 'Karibal'—pero hindi dito nakarerelate si Jennylyn Mercado.
"'Yung character ko dito sa 'Karibal' [is] medyo different from the past roles I had, kasi it's centered more on the relationship of a mother and her daughter," kuwento ni Jennylyn sa amin.
The story of 'Karibal,' we learn, revolves around a mother who catches the attention—and affection—of her daughter's true love.
Jennylyn tells us, "Maraming lessons na mapupulot dito, especially when it comes to your relationship with your family—your parents." Dagdag pa niya, "Now that I'm a mom na, I can relate na [to] how parents feel for their children." One more reason kung bakit very different, at very special, ang role na ito for Jen.
And making it more special for her is the fact that she's reuniting with two members of her La Vendetta family: Jean Garcia and Wendell Ramos!
"Masaya po ang taping namin," Jennylyn shares with us. "Maraming kuwentuhan, lalo na po kami nila Miss Jean, kasi it's been a while since our last show [together]."
Isa pang makakasama niya ulit sa bagong story ng Dear Friend ay si Hero Angeles na last niyang nakasama nung first week ng Paano ba ang Mangarap?. She adds, "with Hero naman, nagkasama kami [before] pero saglit lang kasi namatay agad ['yung] character niya. So I'm happy to be working with him again."
At dahil nga kilala na ni Jen ang mga kasama niya sa 'Karibal,' she's happy to report din na smooth ang flow ng taping nila, saying, "Kasi medyo at ease na, at comfortable na akong katrabaho sila."
For now, Jennylyn is keeping her focus on one project at a time—kaya ise-sentro daw muna niya ang attention niya sa Dear Friend presents Karibal for the time being.
Don't miss the premiere of 'Karibal' on Dear Friend this Sunday, pagkatapos ng SOP. And catch Jennylyn's I Am Woman Sunday Night on SNBO, pagkatapos ng Ful Haus.
